The Ultra Trail des Châteaux is an event organized by Manolo Rabouint, a young man from Saumur with a passion for triathlon and running. The first edition will take place in 2023, around the Château de Saumur.
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.
The rules are as follows: elimination race over a 3km loop with +80m elevation gain (this is what makes the race an Ultra Trail, given its distance and elevation gain). When the first runner catches up with the last runner on a lap, the last runner is eliminated.
The event also features hikes of various formats: 7, 12 and 17km.
Last but not least, a market for local producers will be held in front of the château.
The process :
The team consisting of Carole Romain Enzo and myself were assigned the task of redesigning the logo. Manolo opted for the logo that most closely resembled the existing one, as he didn’t want to lose the identity of the château and the rider.
We designed the logo to revolve around the concept of gradient and speed, with an emphasis on diagonals.
For the event poster, we proposed an airy visual, highlighting the castle, the poster’s main subject and essential element of the event. From the outset, our objective was to be able to modify the poster, with just the castle, the date and useful information. This enabled us to create a poster model that not only reduced the weight of the files, but also visually established the event, thanks to the identifiable colors and recognizable identity.
As an example, we created the poster with the Château d’Angers, to imagine possible variations with other châteaux (the one in Angers being particularly different from the one in Saumur).
3D modeling of the Quai Lucien Gautier in Saumur, the city’s most emblematic thoroughfare.
Once the universe had been validated, Carole offered Manolo a shooting session in Saumur to produce the event’s promotional video. Focusing on the race, the video shows Manolo running with an extra, using a two-color screen concept to evoke the effort, prestige and courage of the race.
